Taekwondo is a Korean martial art characterised by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. It very much compliments the other forms of martial arts that we teach including boxing and kickboxing.

There are a wide variety of kicks and students improve their technique and flexibility to be able to do more complicated moves such as jumping, spinning, and head height kicks.

Taekwondo’s roots are in other older martial arts including Chinese martial arts and Karate.

Speed and agility are two of the defining characteristics of this martial art and are important parts of our advanced self defence system.

As with other martial arts, speed, balance and coordination are favoured over strength and power. It’s a great way to build core strength and improve cardio health.
