How MMA Improves Strength, Stamina and Coordination

MMA improves strength, stamina and coordination while giving students the opportunity to learn practical martial arts and self-defence skills. Whether you’re completely new to martial arts or already have some training experience, regular MMA sessions provide a full-body workout that can help develop strength, stamina and coordination.

Building Strength Through MMA

MMA training uses the whole body rather than focusing on just one muscle group. Punches, kicks, takedowns, grappling and controlled drills all require different muscles to work together.

Alongside martial arts training, our Mixed Class for adults also includes resistance weight training. This gives students the opportunity to work on strength using weights and resistance exercises alongside their MMA training.

Combining resistance training with martial arts can provide a varied workout that challenges different areas of fitness. Bodyweight exercises such as squats, press-ups, lunges and core exercises are also included during sessions.

For children, strength development is focused on age-appropriate movement, technique and fitness. Our Little Lions classes for ages 4–7 help younger students develop fundamental movement skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Improving Stamina and Fitness

MMA training can be physically demanding, making it a great way to work on cardiovascular fitness and stamina. Pad work, drills, circuits and movement exercises can get the heart rate up while keeping sessions varied and engaging.

MMA improves strength, stamina and coordination by combining different types of movement and exercise within a single training session. With regular training, students can gradually become more comfortable exercising for longer periods and recovering between activities.

Our Family Class for ages 7+ gives children, teenagers and adults the opportunity to stay active while learning martial arts together.

Developing Coordination and Movement

Coordination is an important part of MMA. Students need to learn how to control their hands, feet and body while moving, striking, defending and changing position.

Learning combinations of punches and kicks can help develop hand-eye coordination, balance and timing. Grappling and movement drills also require students to understand body positioning and respond to a training partner.

For younger students, these skills can support overall physical development while giving them new movements and techniques to practise.

Progressing Through Regular Training

The benefits of MMA develop through consistent training. Each session gives students the chance to practise their techniques, challenge themselves and gradually improve their fitness.

Our grading system gives students regular goals to work towards, with the opportunity to earn a new belt every two months and recognise their progress.

Whether you’re joining to improve your fitness, build strength, learn self-defence or simply try something new, MMA offers a varied and enjoyable way to stay active.
